About Kimberly Baeth:

“Where on earth can I find giant scissors that really cut?”

Kimberly was asked this question while working at a Chamber. Giant scissors that cut seemed like a simple idea – but it was a unique novelty at the time.

She drew a pattern and asked her dad to construct big scissors for her 26th birthday. With a pair of oversized wooden scissors that cut (thanks to ingeniously placed razor blades), Golden Openings began in 1997 with the intention of helping businesses with openings.

Not even the unexpected 3-week EARLY arrival of her daughter, Stephanie, put a halt in her busy schedule. When it was time for Baeth, her husband and baby to leave the hospital, they had to stop at grand openings with hospital bands still on their wrists, before going home.

From there she invented the original giant stainless steel scissors that really cut. Her business specializes in Grand Openings, Ribbon Cuttings, Ground Breakings and Special Events, Golden Openings has over 10,000 products including: wide custom ribbon, big bows, keys to the city, ground breaking items and keepsakes, and several any other unique awards and gifts for special events. She speaks to many different groups inspiring them to achieve “Cutting Edge Success in Life and Business”. She written 3 guide books and also author of a book (soon to be published) called Guerrilla Grand Openings!

Golden Openings, Inc, ships out 100’s of packages each day to businesses and has shipped to 6 of the 7 continents. She has worked with and done events for: The White House, Oprah, Disney, Lady Gaga, Apple, Google, Facebook Microsoft, many colleges, universities, professional sports teams, movies, many fortune 500 companies, restaurants, TV shows, and more. She also helped orchestrate and set a world record for the longest ribbon cutting (4.5 miles of continuous ribbon) in Cutler Bay, FL in December 2011. Over 8,000 Chambers own her scissors. She has grown her business an average of 34% each year for the 21 years in business, to date.
