Golden Openings Pivots to Changing Business Environment - Uniquely Urbandale - June 2020

Golden Openings always thinks big. For 23 years the Urbandale, Iowa-based business has helped thousands of clients celebrate grand openings, ribbon cuttings and groundbreaking events. Its inventory of over 10,000 products has been showcased at events on every continent except Antarctica. The business is widely recognized for its long history of success and average annual growth of 32 percent. In 2017, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce honored it with the national Small Business of the Year and Community Excellence Awards.
The cancellation of business events during the COVID-19 pandemic forces Golden Openings to reinvent itself to meet customers’ needs in a new business environment. Its employees are identifying creative ways to help customers host re-opening celebrations in a safe environment.
Owner/President Kimberly Baeth credits an SBA-backed Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan from Raccoon Valley Bank as “a lifeline that is helping the company endure the crisis and adjust to changing market needs.”
