"We took the grand prize back to Iowa!" an excited Kimberly Morford Baeth wrote to The Eleusis staff after the U.S. Chamber of Commerce named her business, Golden Openings, Inc., as the 2017 "Dream Big" Small Business of the Year.
The annual award, which includes a $25,000 prize, celebrates the achievements of small businesses and honors their contributions to America's economic growth.
Golden Openings was also recognized this year with the Community Excellence Award, which honors one organization that positively impacts the quality of life in its community.
In 2016, Kimberly's business was named by the COC as one of 100 successful U.S. companies contributing to America's economic growth and vitality.
Located in Urbandale, Iowa, Golden Openings was created by Kimberly in 1997 when she invented the original giant scissors that really cut. In the next 20 years, her business has become a "one-stop shop" for ceremonial event needs worldwide.
Kimberly is an initiate of Eta Beta/Iowa State and is the Vice President of the House Corporation of Psi Beta/Iowa, where her daughter, Stephanie, is a collegiate member.
